Transportation: Agenda’s fleet of limousines will be shuttling guests to the show from 5th and L St, directly across the street from the Convention Center.

ADDMISSION POLICY: Buyers, distributors and press are admitted into the show for free.

JAY-Z + APPLE: LAUNCHING A RECORD LABEL?

This is one we’ve heard before. Jay-Z leaves Def Jam, starts revolutionary digital record label with Apple. The first part has already happened and now Boy Genius Report is saying that the label is definitely a go.

Jay flat out denied this when somebody asked him about it back in October. The folks over at Crunchgear are already calling bullshit on BGR’s rumor, but they also offer some more realistic possibilties.

I can’t tell you if this is actually going to happen or not, but I do know that the music industry needs some kind of earth shattering wake up call. This may or may not turn out to be it. Something needs to be done sooner rather than later.

“It’s not the music; people ingest music the same way. It’s just that the model of selling CDs has changed. So doing things the typical way is not in the best interests of anyone and not exciting for me.” – Jay to Billboard last month. (Via: Nah Right)

UPDATE: Now that you’ve heard the news, we thought it was time to break things down and add a little more of what we know. When we said Apple and Jay-Z were starting a record label, it doesn’t mean that Jay is running it. It just means they are doing it together. What we think will happen is Jay will be on as an “urban” artist, and Apple will go out and make similar deals with other rock and country artists. But Jay-Z has 2 albums left at Def Jam, right? Well, he’s going to develop and attract artists like he did at Def Jam as president. Jay has the power to get artists on the radio, get them media ops, etc. Having him on board for urban artists is the ultimate stamp of approval, and makes total sense. We see this working as a straight distribution model, with little, but some marketing support. I guess Ringles weren’t enough to satisfy the fans… (Via Boy Genius Report)

STUSSY TO DOUBLE ITS RETAIL PRESENCE

In terms of retail outlets Stussy has always been very prominent in Japan, with overall 48 flagship stores. Always impressive to hear that number. But in 2007 and continuing in 2008 the brand his also increasing their presence on their home market again. Just recently we reported about the Stussy Hawaii flagship store, opened with Jules Gayton of Leilow.

2008 will see another few interesting openings by the brand. The next one to follow is Washington and who else could they have teamed up with, but with Commonwealth owner Omar Quiambao. Not only will they open a Stussy Chapter Store soon, they will also open For The Greater Good, a more mature store for customers that have gotten too old for the Commonwealth brand range. More information once we get closer to the opening.

Also in the next couple of months, we will see the opening of the first Stussy flagship store in Canada. It’s actually surprising that it took so long. The Toronto store will be opened and managed by Matt George, owner of the Goodfoot chain, Nomad and Ransom. Yet another perfect candidate and for sure we will see interesting collaborations from this new partnership.

We hope that Stussy will also start making some more moves in Europe, but for now its the North American turn! Via DNR.

THE HUNDREDS – WHATS IN STORE FOR 2008

For the New Year, Bobby Hundreds was kind enough to grace the blogging community with some teasers of what The Hundreds have in store for us in 2008. From the looks of the photos – we have should be on the lookout for: new jeans, Hundreds skate decks, vinyl toys, SHOES, and watches! And my inside sources say to be looking out for something even bigger…I’ll just hint at something ‘happening’ in San Francisco around March or so…

To start things off this year, Nike in conjunction with Undefeated Radio will be hosting a party at the Undefeated location in La Brea. DJ’s spinning that night will include DJ Byze One, DJ Phoreyz’s, Mr. Choc, C Minus and Shinehead. The party will take place on January 4th from 8PM to Midnight. KAWS X SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS

Spongebob Squarepants has been getting a lot of attention these past few months in the world of street culture since collaborating with Bape. The popular artist KAWS has just posted a picture on his personal blog on Honeyee of the character Spongebob Squarepants drawn in KAWS’ signature style. Will this be a t-shirt, an upcoming toy or just a tribute to Spongebob? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
